Almost Ready!

I have been working very hard and I'm sure the rest of you have been too! My room is almost ready... I can't wait to post some pictures when it is complete (you know, before the kids mess it all up!) I am in inservice the rest of the week and the kids come back on Monday....

Here is a freebie from the pack I made for my room. It is not completely finished yet, but hopefully it will be soon (seeing as how I need all the stuff by Friday!!!)

Long time no blogging

Hi friends, I am sorry I have been gone so long. I hit the ground running when I got back to Texas. I had technology training on Monday and Tuesday and then I went to set my classroom up on Wednesday. After working in my kindergarten room for a few hours, my principal dropped by with a look... Long story short, I am now a third grade teacher again :( We just didn't have enough kids and she didn't want me to get bumped from the building so she proactively switched me back up to third (were I've been the last 7 years) I am SO happy to be back with my team, I seriously love them, but I am bummed to not be a kindergarten teacher. I read and created so much this summer.... I am also a little bit panicked because instead of teaching math and science with an ELA partner, I will be self contained. Yep, that means I teach all subjects and 2 STAAR tests. Boo!
Is it weird that after my initial shock, I was most worried about the fact I had been pinning kinder stuff all summer and therefor did not have adequate pinning time for my third grade adventure?
Needless to say, I have been very busy preparing my new room and trying to get my head where it needs to be. Teacher inservice starts Monday. Yikes!

So, the real question, what should I call my blog? Should I leave it the same and just add a tag line about teaching third? Should I be Kickin it in Third? Should I do something not grade specific in case I get moved again??

My ex teaching partner was moved to second grade and she has a whole Peanuts theme going on this year. She asked me to design her a matching clip chart and how could I say no?? I thought it turned out cute enough to share. If you'd like a copy, I added it to Google Docs.  Enjoy!

I have been working a lot while visiting my family in Ohio. The problem is that no one has up-to-date computers :( So I am left to work on my products with dilapidated less than ideal technology. Next year, my laptop is making the trip!! I really hope to find a way to get my birthday pack finished. before Sunday. I am super excited about it - Here is a sneak peak.

Funnies

Smedley’s Smorgasboard of Kindergarten
I am hooking up with Greg over at Smedley's Smorgasboard of Kindergarten to share some of the funniest things kids have said to me.

Now, I know we could all make a book with the things we've heard kids say or have seen them do, but I will spare you and just share my top 2 moments.

When student teaching in a preschool class, we had a little boy from China. He spoke NO English and was very shy (rightfully so.) Everyday at recess time, he would try so hard to get outside and get one of the two cozy coupe cars that was available to play with. One day, he got the car and was happily driving around the playground. Well, one of our more challenging friends decided to take the car away from him. As we (the teachers) were headed over there to solve the problems, my little non-English speaker held up both middle fingers and yelled "f*%#*ers" as loud as he could. Oh.my.word.

The next year, while student teaching first grade, on the very first day of school, we told the kids to line up for lunch. A little girl went to the coat closet and got her backpack, We realized she thought she was getting to go home like she did at lunch time for half day kindergarten. When we explained that "in first grade, we eat lunch here at school and then stay for more learning." She asked," well, who signed me up for this s*#t" anyway?"

Okay, so I hope I did not offend anyone with my stories. Clearly, I have taught some colorful friends!

Tag, you're it! Head on over to Greg's blog and link up with your funnies.... If you don't have a blog, I'd love for you to leave me a comment with your funny story!!

Oh.My.Pinterest Mother-load!

I think I have declared my love for all things Pinteresting on here many times! Seriously, I can't get enough... it is an addiction! So, imagine my delight when Debbie from Rainbows Within Reach started a pinterest linky  party... be still my heart!

At the bottom of this post, you will see links to over 300 (at last count) education boards! Of course we teachers do pin things other than school stuff, so you may find some other things you like too.. but be warned, no chores will be done today because there will be a whole lotta pinning going on :)

I also want to draw your attention to my new kindergarten blog roll on the right side. I read so many blogs that are AH-Mazing but I really wanted a way to showcase all my kinder friends since kinder is it's own creature! So, between pinning and finding new blogs to stalk read, you should be quite busy, Go ahead, call and order dinner now. Let's face it, it's the summer and you don't want to cook anyway!! HA
