10 Random Things About Me for Teacher Week

1. I cannot make decisions about decorating or crafting or classroom design. Seriously. I am not sure when that happened, but it is super annoying. I stand and hem and haw for.ev.er.

 2. I am moving from 9 years as a third grade teacher to being a first grade teacher. It was my decision but now that it is so soon, I am equal parts excited and terrified.

 3. I LOVE listening to music. I listen to country, pop, rap, classical, show tunes.... everything but heavy, heavy metal.

 4. I prefer baths (nice, quiet, warm baths) over showers. I love to read while in the bath too!

 5. I grew up in Ohio. I did things like ice skating lessons and ski club. Now that I live in Texas, people laugh when I tell them and they assume I mean water skiing, not snow! I also say things like pop when I mean soda...

 6. I met my husband the first week of college at the University of Cincinnati. We were friends for a short time and then dated for about 5 years before getting married. We just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this July.

 7. I love to sing - loudly.

 8. I cuss like a sailor. For real. (I am crediting The Tatooed Teacher for helping me know it was okay
to share this fun fact)

9. I cannot draw even a little bit. Every time I see those beautiful anchor charts on Pinterest, I cry a little inside.

10. I am a procrastintor to the extreme. I have about 15 projects in a folder on my desktop titled, "to finish for TpT'" I think this goes hand in hand with #1!

I have had so much fun reading all the other blogs today!! If you haven't linked up already, you still have time!

Currently and August Calendar Freebie

Hi friends. I am super excited to link up with Farley this month for Currently. I missed the last 2 months and that is a total bummer! Here we go....

Listening; husband is watching, I'm blogging!

Loving; I read the 50 Shades series last summer. I am on the 3rd book of the Crossfire Series and Holly Hotness Batman..... a girl can dream. (when asked what I am reading, I reply, "smut" Ha

Thinking: I am guessing I am not alone in having too many things to do and too little time. As teachers, isn't that our mantra??

Wanting: hmmm, I am walking and eating better but a quick 20 pound weight loss would be lovely.

Needing; I am changing themes again this year and I need to get my rear in gear....

Must have's. I always get a new haircut and some new clothes before school starts and I haven't gone shopping all summer. I am dreading it b/c I have not lost as much weight as I'd hoped. Sigh.

Does your school use Journey's? When I taught 3rd we didn't use it at all but my new team does. I am not sure how I will use it yet, but regardless, I know these Roll, Say, Keep games by Teaching With Love and Laughter will make my life much easier! I will use them with my GR groups and I will use them during Daily 5! Check them out by clicking on the picture!

Now, the freebie. I made some back to school calendar cards. You can get them by clicking on the picture below. Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear from you if you grab these cards!!

Monday Made It: Teacher Toolkit Times Two

Did you enjoy my alliteration? I just can't seem to be on time with my blog posts this summer :( Anyway, as the title states, I am linking up with Tara again for another Monday Made It.

I was estatic at the end of the school year when a good teacher friend of mine surprised me with two different toolkits! She purchased this one, which is actually made to store nails/screws
source (Mine actually has 30 drawers but I can't find it online)
and this one!
source

I have great friends, right??
I saw these toolkits all last summer and didn't think I would need one. I changed my mind. I got really tired of running from my small group table all the way across the room to my desk every time I needed something. This little guy is going to live on a self behind my guided reading table so I will have supplies close by wherever I am! I am planning a superhero theme this year and here is what I came up with. A quick coat of black spray paint and it looks perfect!

The next toolkit (the one meant for nails) is also going to live right by my guided reading table. It will hold letter tiles (like the ones below) so that I can easily hand out and put away letters for word work!

click on the picture to see them at Lakeshore

There you have it! I am loving seeing all the other ideas but like many of you, my to do list keeps getting longer and longer! See you next week.. I am already working so hopefully I can be on time!

Optimum Organization : Reward Coupons

I am dropping by with a quick post about my reward coupon organization system! picture of reward coupons, baseball card sleeves, kickin' it with class

I simply print, cut out, and laminate my reward cards. Then I place one of each type inside a baseball card holder like the ones here (I bought mine at Wal-mart) and then I put the rest of those cards behind it in the same sleeve. Students could look through the 2 pages of rewards quickly and just pull out the card they were choosing! No more cards scattered everywhere!

One more small tip. I would have the students write their name with a sharpie or Vis-A-Vis on the back of the laminated card so if they dropped it before using it, I could return it to them. Then, when students "cashed" in, I would erase their name by covering it with dry erase marker and wiping clean so that it could be reused (like this). Gotta save money on that colored ink!

Thanks for stopping by. Please head on over to Fun in Room 4B or Ladybug's Teacher Files and see all the other amazing ideas!
